The director of the National Theater Janis Vimba, who occupies the new post for two weeks, said during a conversation with Latvian radio that the traditional theatrical performance "The Theater Rat" seems to have done its job.
Vimba pointed out that all these years, The Theater Rat has approached people differently and made them qualitative, but other alternatives should be sought. He regards the issue as delicate and very sensitive and emphasizes that it is unlikely that the solution can be found during the same season.
Vimba also pointed out that the next season of the National Theater – at the hundredth – will be the season of Ojars Rubins and his team. quality work in artistic and productive terms. Vimba believes that the changes in the theater must be done slowly and that they do not speak of specific intentions for the moment.
The theater also plans special shows on 18 and 19 November, celebrating Latvia in the 100th century. It is expected that all seasonal actors will participate in these shows. Many actors are also involved in the premiere of the next season – "Pūt, vējiņi!" Directed by Elmārs Sņkovs with the music of Imants Kalniņš, that Vimba called the epic work.
The director of the National Theater also emphasized the principles that will be followed. and foreign clbadical dramaturgy, secondly, the original new market and, thirdly, experimentation will not be forgotten by trying new ways to address the public. Vimba sees the problem as a burn of his staff (581 shows played in the theater the previous season) and indicates that the reduction of the workload of the actors will be taken into account. He also did not hide that he would like to see more young people in the audience and that he hopes to attract young people with new and powerful directors in the coming season.
