Russian hackers have launched an ambitious campaign to crack down on US power grids in 2017, reports the Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
According to data from the US Department of Homeland Security, the attack against Russia is in favor of the "Eager Bear" hacking task force.
Hackers have reached the stage where they could turn on and turn off electricity
According to the Ministry, the attack against attackers hundreds of companies have become victims. Some companies may not be aware of their network piracy because hacking is hard to detect because they use employee data. An overclocking campaign is likely to continue, writes WSJ.
The Energetic Bear Group has been active since at least 2010 and targets energy and industrial companies. Washington believes that the grouping activity is sponsored by Russia.
