According to the Ministry of Education and Science (MES), 28 entries for the "Teacher of the Year 2018" competition were evaluated and, after the first round, six finalists were nominated – Aiva Aišpure (Bauska Elementary School), Sarmīte Gobiņa (Gulbene Primary School), Indra Krēgere (Engure High School, Pēteris Krastiņš (Salas Secondary School), Vizma Tiltiņa (Staiceles Primary School and General Professional Sports School Peter Radziņa Staiceles ) and Anita Vilcāne (State Gymnasium Daugavpils).
In the second edition of the contest, which took place on November 26th, the jury examined the role of the participants in the organization of school hours for schoolchildren, by badessing the capacity of the students. Teacher to use various methods and teaching tools, to demonstrate and involve students in demonstration exercises, as well as to give an hourly feedback. In addition, special attention was given to the emotional context during school hours, compliance with safety rules and other criteria. At the end of the second round, three nominees – the three best sports teachers from Latvia – were nominated. Peteris KRASTIŅŠ, sports teacher at Salas College, entered the third year of the godfather.
The winner of the competition – the most outstanding sports teacher of Latvia in 2018 – will be named "Latvia Sport Prize 2018" award ceremony.
This year, the ESM, as well as experienced sports educators, athletes and experts from the sector, including Anita Siliņa, Latvian sports athlete, sports journalist David Ernsttreits, organizer of the Riga marathon, organizer Aigars Nords, Liepaja sports schools Deputy Director Evita Auniņa.
The purpose of the contest is to promote the role of a sports teacher in the process of educating a young, healthy and physically active generation and to raise the profile of the profession in society at home. wider.
