On the occasion of the XXVI General Festival of Latvian Song and the 16th edition, the concert of Latvian singers "Austraskoks" was held for the first time at the Vērmanes Garden on Wednesday, July 4th.
The Vītolu family sang a concert with old folk songs, emphasizing the power inherited from tradition. The song in ancient times and nowadays – as autorexines turn into folk songs, we are inspired by folk song to create a modern history. A story about us, about Latvia, about the land, about yourself, about relationships and values. The backbone of this concert was made by Austrasbērni, the students of the legendary Austras Pumpurs, playing separately with their own authors, and concluding the concert with the audience with the songs of Kalnins Imants. Singers such as Harald Siman, Andris Michlulis, Uldis Ozols and others have symbolically marked the time of Awakening and the voices of the singers as alarms of conscience. Kristin Sudmale-Locika, Arnis Miltiņš, Agita Kauzene, Vita Krūmiņa, Inta Pauļuka, Laura and Dzintars Vitoli, Jan Egle, Janis Rūcis and other Austrasbērni sing songs of spiritual values, eternal truths and auditions heart. The second concert of Latvian singers will take place on July 8 at 5 pm in Vērmanes dárzs. It will address the history of the diverse movement of singers today – on various bright and active Latvian singers, as well as on news, festivals and their creators, songwriters and traditionalists in Latvia. In concert, we will meet the brilliant Latvian singers Helen Kozlov, Erik Loku, Maijs Kalniņš, Zandu Strauss, Andri Akmentins, Laini Ligeri-Stengrevics, Brothers of the North, Dinari Gulbi, Silvestru Sili, Rhine Young and Vincent Cuckold. At the end of the concert, Austrian children will perform alongside Kristīne Sudmale-Lokika, evoking the continuation of Austrālis Pumpurs' ideas and inviting them to enjoy the program of song and poetry at the brand new 'Austrumu istaba' From Liepaja. The concert will be chaired by Maija Kalniņa, the songwriter and one of the organizers of the Festival of Fine Arts "Gates" of Dullo.
