Qualification courses were organized on public roads on a 24 km course. The Grand Final, which selected the two best qualifying drivers, was held on a 28.30 km race. The drivers went to the last race directly before the trip. The Volvo Trucks Driver Challenge has been in place since 2012, but has been operating internationally since 2009. In 2018, 80 experienced truck drivers tested their driving skills, but more than 1000 drivers in all previous years.
