President Levits speaks for the first time in Ikšķile during an annual repressive political rally

Politically repressed people from all over Latvia meet on Saturday at the annual Ikskile scene. This is the 21st meeting of the repressed policies.

Egils Levits, as President, attends this traditional event. Invitations to participate were also sent to the President of the Saeima, Inara Mūrniece (VL-TB / LNNK), and to the Prime Minister, Krišjānis Kariņš (New Unit).

70 years have pbaded since the last mbad exodus. On March 25, 1949, more than 42,000 people were cured in cattle cars and deported to remote areas of Russia, while on June 14, 15,500 people were evicted.

For the most part, only those who have suffered the deportations of the Stalinist regime as young children or Siberian children born in exile participate in the Ikšķile rally.
