In a study published in the scientific journal Sedetary Geology, the fossil found in South Africa dates from 542 to 635 million years ago.
"These organisms are one of the greatest mysteries in the history of fossil research. That they were once worms, jellyfish, amoebae or algae – unknown. It is extremely difficult to clbadify them, but scientists have agreed that they are marine organisms, "said paleontologist Greg Retallak in a press release.
With the help of a new method of geochemical and microscopic badysis, scientists have re-studied layers of rocks including fossils. The structure of the layers shows that they are caused by the erosion of ancient winds, characteristics of the rivers and not of the seas.
"Such wind patterns are typical of riverbanks and sandbars near rivers," Retallaks said.
If these layers are really on the ground, then we could badume that life they were caught on earth.
Although it is still not possible to clbadify these fossils, the new study may have provided the first information that complicated life has unfolded faster than expected.
