This year we will not be able to talk about the excellent grain yield – in many parts of the grain, the food is very detailed, badyzed in Riga Dzirnavnieks.
"This year, we can not speak of an excellent grain yield, because the granulation of the grain is due to a prolonged drought and therefore the grain volume will be much lower than the other years, farmers expect already a sufficiently large loss per hectare. However, the concern over the shortage of foodgrains is still unreasonable, as the Vidzeme and Latgale seedlings are of sufficient quality to obtain food grains, "says Anita Skudra, Director JSC Rīgas Dzirnavnieks
She admits that even though grain quality will be lower due to prolonged drought this year, it seems that farmers will be able to provide cereals such as wheat to the company. , rye and oats.He found the company after a survey of partners in the field of cereals in different regions. In fact, the greatest expectations are on cereals for food in Vidzeme and Latgale.
This year, without many dams, a lot of problems were encountered this year – an aerial raid of an insect that also damaged the grain. Another interesting fact is that cereals are better in unfertilized fields, which is in contradiction with usual practice.
The worst situation is with the summer (wheat) – their harvest is bad in all regions. In Vidzeme, farmers do not complain about rye and oats, there are also winter crops. Despite the rain of last year, Latgale's partner farms will be able to provide planned volumes for rye, oats and wheat. The worst situation is in the countryside of Kurzeme, where it will be more advantageous for some farms to transfer grain to feed them, because they feed in very small quantities.
It should be mentioned that the situation of cereals is even worse in some parts of Lithuania. There, farmers predict a yield loss of up to 80%.
"Rīgas Dzirnavnieks" is already prepared for the new harvest season and is ready for the new crop of cereals farmers. Continuing the development of the company in Latvia and in the export markets, it plans to buy up to 150 000 tons of cereals – wheat, rye and oats during the new season .
