On August 12, the Regional Environmental Office of the State Environmental Service (SES) issued a polluting activity license category B to SIA "Karosta LP ", informed the representative of SES, Maruta Bukleviča.
The company plans to recharge coal, wood chips and alternative fuels in the Liepaja Special Economic Zone by creating new jobs.
The proposed activities generated public anxiety. The SES Liepaja RMP received a letter bearing the 1862 Liepaja signature and expressing concern about the environmental impact of the business and health activities of the inhabitants of Liepaja.
The permit issued for the polluting activity includes all the conditions prescribed by the Pollution Act and the regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers that the company must observe in the conduct of its economic activities. The Liepaja Regional Environmental Council of the SES has also incorporated citizens' suggestions: for example, the company must coordinate a plan of action to deal with adverse weather conditions before starting its activities. Such a condition is intended to minimize the impact of polluting activity on the environment and the surrounding population.
The company is also responsible for constantly monitoring dust and providing monthly data with its results.
The conditions of the permit issued for the polluting activity stipulate that the company can start operations only after the implementation of all relevant measures, the approval of the SMP Liepaja RMP and the l & # 39; on-site inspection by environmental inspectors.
The management of SIA "Karosta LP" also undertakes to supervise the Liepaja Special Economic Zone.
