The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, or EBRD, was created in 1991 to help the countries of the former Eastern Bloc move to capitalism. Now, the bank wants to expand its activities in other countries, but before authorizing, the shareholders urged to invest more actively in the current countries, including in Latvia. In our country, the EBRD has financed 90 different projects, for a total investment of 657 million euros, with a particularly active involvement in the banking crisis.
