On July 30, the 2nd International Festival of Theater and Cinema "Sea Pearl" was inaugurated in the Dzintari concert hall in Jurmala. The opening event was intended to celebrate an ambitious 70th anniversary of the Riga Festival, which was attended by Latvian actors and directors who were then very popular in the Soviet Union for cinema.
The program included songs and music from cinemas that were taken in Riga during the blooming studio years and are part of the Latvian and Soviet cinema gold fund. Among the honorable guests of the opening concert of the Jūras pērle Theater and Music Festival were Latvian actors and directors who worked at the Riga Film Studio at a time when at least eight feature films were made each year, thanks to the orders from the Soviet Union.
"I experienced the golden age of the Riga Film Studio, and not only that, but I caught my time," said Roland Zagorsky.
Each actor has his own memoirs about the time when a broad public of fraternal republicans provided visibility and popularity.
"Me, for example, I was in the role of, due to the fact that the main actress refused to sing in Latvian. Mircea Zīvere had already healed her, she was not her husband. "I did not like it, and I took it to the end," Lelde Vikmane said.
