The Central Electoral Commission (CVK) today supported the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to create four more polling stations abroad during the 13th Saeima elections. Thus, during the 13th Saeima elections, 121 polling stations in 45 countries will operate. In the 2014 Saeima elections, polling stations abroad will be located in the United States, United Arab Emirates, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Czech Republic, Denmark , Egypt, France, Greece, Georgia, Estonia, India, Iceland, Italy, Israel, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Canada, Kazakhstan, Korea, Russia, China, United Kingdom, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Moldova, Netherlands Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Finland, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, Hungary, Uzbekistan, Germany and Sweden
The largest number of polling stations will be in the United States – 21, in the United Kingdom – 19 and in Germany – nine. There will be six polling stations in Sweden, five polling stations in Australia and Canada, four in Ireland, Russia and Norway, with two offices in Austria, Belarus, Brazil, Denmark, France, Italy and in Switzerland. the polling stations will be located in the diplomatic and consular representations of the Republic of Latvia, as well as in other appropriate premises to vote, mainly in premises belonging to Latvian citizens.
On Saeima election day, October 6, polling stations will be open. From 7:00 to 20:00 local time, not only Latvian citizens residing in the country will be able to vote, but also those who have gone abroad for a short working trip or a trip.
