Launch of Chandrayaan 2 at 2:51 am, aborted by a technical problem

The launch of Chandrayaan 2, India's most ambitious space mission to date, was canceled earlier this morning by the Indian Space Research Organization or ISRO. The powerful GSLV Mark III rocket was to leave Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh at 2:51 am with a rover landing on the moon in about two months. However, after being suspended for the first time 56 minutes before takeoff, the launch was canceled due to a "technical problem," said ISRO. The launch is unlikely, even on July 16, when ISRO had a window of 10 minutes, said the source. President Ram Nath Kovind was present at the Spaceport for the mission.
