ESL has launched a mobile esports league with AT & T acting as a founding sponsor.
the ESL Mobile Open is intended for amateur players and gives them the opportunity to compete in US stadiums at DreamHack and ESL One events.
Yvette Martinez-Rea, CEO of ESL Gaming North America We discussed the league: "We believe that the mobile will be the opportunity to bring the next generation of sports enthusiasts Esport into the fold. A first in the industry, ESL Mobile Open has been developed to provide all users with phone access to compete at the highest level with established and emerging mobile title securities. AT & T is a natural product for this program because of its commitment to innovation in sport and games and by promoting broad access for players of all types and levels. "
The league will run throughout the year and will be divided into three seasons. The inaugural season will begin on March 18th. The people involved will initially be able to compete on PUBG Mobile, Clash of clans, and Asphalt 9: Legends. Most of each season's action will be online, but the inaugural finale will take place at DreamHack Dallas starting May 31st. The ESL Mobile Open will have an annual prize pool of $ 330,000 (£ 251,946.75).
Shiz Suzuki, AVP Sponsorship and Experiential Marketing for AT & T Communications "This is a perfect example of why we chose to work with ESL from last year: they are leaders in the development of technology for sports players of all levels, in addition to offer great tournaments for fans around the world. Our investments in sponsorships help us develop relationships with our customers by connecting their passion for esport. We look forward to working with ESL to offer online mobile gameplay to our customers and to all amateur players who wish to register in this new league. "
ESL announced that AT & T would be its North American telecommunications and mobile gaming partner in June of last year. To launch the partnership, a Clash Royale tournament was held at the annual SHAPE Technology & Entertainment Expo.
Esports Insider says: This is of particular interest to us as it is one of the first major initiatives between ESL and AT & T since the partnership. It's great that the league offers amateur players the opportunity to participate in well-known events; The local esport is important and the mobile esports is growing, so it's a really cool concept.
