The Bianchi Impulso Pro is a brand new gravel bike focused on gravel racing, matching a fairly aggressive geometry with, in the context of gravel bikes, a conservative maximum tire width of 38mm.
The Impulso originally existed in Bianchi’s lineup as an endurance road bike, before it was updated to support a wider range of rides and received the nickname “All- Road ”. For a while it was the only gravel bike in the lineup, but last year the brand expanded its gravel offering with the Bianchi Impulso E-Road and Bianchi Arcadex.
Where the Arcadex is more geared towards technical off-road riding, the Impulso Pro now fills the faster end of the gravel spectrum for Bianchi.
Fast geometry
The geometry reflects this with steeper head tube and seat tube angles than the Arcadex. This is matched with a shorter wheelbase.
Bianchi says the geometry creates a “super responsive and stiff ride” that reflects the brand’s racing pedigree. In a world filled with huge drooping fork crowns, the Impulso stands out with a fairly traditional and clean silhouette.
Carbon frame and careful tire clearance
While the Impulso All-Road has an aluminum frame, the Impluso Pro is only available with a full carbon frame.
Bianchi cites a claimed frame weight of 1,100g, but did not specify what frame size that weight is for, whether it is a painted frame, or whether it includes hardware.
Bianchi cites a maximum tire clearance of 38mm with 700c wheels for the Impulso Pro (confusingly, Bianchi also lists 37mm elsewhere in their press release for the bike – we asked for clarification). This is the narrower side for the best gravel bike tires, 40mm being a de facto standard for most gravel bikes.
This relatively limited tire clearance may deter riders who are more interested in off-road bikepacking adventures, but for those who like to ride fast on gravel roads or softer terrain, this may be enough.
Shimano GRX 1x and two color options
At launch, the bike is available in a single Shimano GRX 600 construction, configured with a 1 × drivetrain with a 40 tooth chainring and an 11 to 42 tooth cassette. The bike is also compatible with 2 × drivetrains via a removable front derailleur hanger.
The Veloman wheelset has a depth of 24mm and an internal width of 21mm. The rims are fitted with 37mm wide WTB Riddler Comp gravel tires.
Velomann also supplies the alloy handlebars, stem and seat post, while the saddle is from Selle Italia.
The Impulso Pro is available in two color schemes. One takes Bianchi’s signature celestial color and introduces different shades to vary on the bike, and the other contrasts with different sage greens.
The bike comes in six sizes (48cm to 58cm) and will cost £ 3,400. Additional international pricing to be confirmed.
