In a system that is supposed to presume us all innocent until proven otherwise, why for blacks, sometimes the objective is "just to have mercy"?
Just pity will tell the story of one of the many black people wrongfully convicted.

Michael B. Award-winning director Destin Daniel Cretton (The glass castle, Short term 12) directed the film from a screenplay he co-wrote, based on Bryan Stevenson's award-winning bestseller. A true story that is powerful and stimulating Just pity follows the young lawyer Bryan Stevenson (Jordan) and his historic battle for justice. After graduating from Harvard, Bryan had his choice of lucrative jobs. Instead, he travels to Alabama to defend those wrongfully convicted or for whom adequate representation has not been granted, with the support of local lawyer Eva Ansley (Larson). Walter McMillian (Foxx) was sentenced to death in 1987 for the notorious murder of an 18-year-old girl, despite the preponderance of evidence establishing his innocence and the fact that the only testimony against him came from a criminal with a motive to lie. Just pity is preparing for a limited theatrical release on December 25, 2019 and will be expanding in theaters around the world on January 10, 2020.
