CHICAGO (WLS) – Cook County attorney Kim Foxx joined Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr. on Saturday at Rainbow Push Headquarters to respond to his resignation request following a decision by his office to drop the lawsuit against the actor "Empire" Jussie Smollett. .

"I pledged to fulfill my mandate and if people were asking me to continue," Foxx said.

They gathered at FOP headquarters about what they claim to be mismanagement of some of Foxx's crime cases, including Foxx's controversial decision to discontinue Jussie Smollet's lawsuit. for his alleged attack.

Foxx, who grew up in Cabrini Green and is the first African-American woman to hold the position of Cook County Attorney, said she was wondering "what is it really about".

"We are entering these positions one way or another, the goal posts are changing," said Foxx.

Police chiefs claim that the safety of citizens and officers is in danger because of Foxx's decision to be prosecuted, particularly with respect to cases of theft in retail and violence against the police.

"I'll tell you it's personal," Foxx said. "I stand every day with our law enforcement partners.I never, I will never speak badly of our partners in this work."
