ESCONDIDO, Calif. – Henry Avocado Corporation is voluntarily recalling California-grown avocados sold in bulk at retail stores as they may be contaminated Listeria monocytogenes.

The company issued the voluntary recall due to positive test results on environmental samples taken during a routine government inspection at its California packing facility. No cases of illness associated with this booster have been reported.

"We are voluntarily recalling our products and taking every measure possible to ensure the safety of consumers who consume our avocados," says Henry Avocado President Henry Henry.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious or life-threatening infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and people with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals only suffer from short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria the infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.

RECALLED PRODUCTS

The company recalls conventional and organic avocados grown in California, packaged at Henry Avocado packaging in California and distributed in Arizona, California, Florida, New Hampshire, North Carolina and Wisconsin.

All shipments from packaging facilities are subject to recall (Henry Avocado only started packing at the end of January 2019). The avocados imported from Mexico and distributed by Henry Avocado are not subjectrecall and may continue to be sold and consumed.

Henry Avocado contacts all concerned customers to confirm that the recalled products are immediately removed from store shelves.

HOW TO IDENTIFY AND WHO TO CALL

For conventional retail products, consumers can identify recalled products with "Bravocado" stickers.

Henry Avocado organic products do not carry the label "Bravocado" on the sticker. Instead, these products are labeled "organic" and include "California" on the sticker. Retailers can identify Henry Avocado organic products using the barcode on the stickers.
