In the offseason, the Raiders signed a monster deal with former Pro Bowl Cory Littleton to resolve their linebacker issues. During his time with the Los Angeles Rams, he was widely regarded as one of the top linebackers in the NFL because he excelled at coverage. Unfortunately, the Raiders haven’t seen this type of play in Las Vegas at all.
According to Pro Football Focus, Littleton is currently one of the lowest rated linebackers in the league because he has major issues in all facets of the game. In a recent post on the site, Littleton was named the most surprising player in the league. the team due to its poor play at the start of the season.

Littleton allowed 388 receiving yards in his 2020 coverage, the third-highest in the NFL, while failing to register a single stoppage or interception of passes. The Raiders have invested resources in trying to improve their cover unit over the past few seasons, but additions such as Littleton haven’t had the desired impact. Las Vegas ranks 27th in the EPA allowed by passing play this season. “
Littleton was recently placed on the reserve / COVID-19 roster by the Raiders and will miss the team’s Week 10 game against the Denver Broncos. While they will certainly miss his athleticism on the field, the fall between him and the next linebacker might not be that big given his level of play this year.
Hopefully Littleton will be able to regain her full strength and beat COVID-19 in the coming weeks. The Raiders are optimistic that with more time in this pattern Littleon will be able to return to his Pro Bowl form. They need him if they are to take the next step as a defense.
