Be ready, League of Legends fans, because Summoner’s Rift may soon turn dull and dark. The video of the Vex champion was officially revealed after it was published prematurely by the Brazilian Twitter account of Riot Games.
The trailer begins with some of the League the happiest characters like Lux, Zoe, and Fizz jump out being bright and happy themselves. But Vex is seen lying on her stomach as she responds groggy to the noise, “Leave me alone, I’m sleeping…”
His abilities are then highlighted. She first detonates Zoe with a large projectile that passes through her enemy. It’s reminiscent of Ezreal’s ultimate, Trueshot Barrage, but is dark and gloomy compared to the bright lights of the original. It’s also not a global ability, but rather moves a decent distance from Vex. Next, she heads for the jungle on tiptoe, where she is confronted by Fizz.
As Fizz leaps over the wall, a mark can be seen above his head. And when Vex’s shadow pulls something out of the Tidal Trickster, that mark disappears. When Fizz rushes through her, he’s instantly frightened. It’s unclear what this brand does or what causes the fear, however.
Afterward, Vex shows a charged area of effect ability that first increases in size before activating and fearing anything in its radius. This appears to be easily preventable on its own, but when combined with other abilities, it could be an incredible zoning tool to help control areas of the map, like the Baron or the Dragon Pit.
Finally, the video reveals what appears to be his ultimate ability. The enemy team takes a dragon when suddenly Vex casts his shadow from a significant distance to strike Teemo. She instantly flashes at her position and kills him. She then casts her shadow on two other enemies to make them blink. She also hits Tristana, who tries to jump over the wall to safety, but the blink follows her and Vex wipes the floor with the entire opposing team.
Right at the end of the video, Riot also shows off a possible skin for Vex who has dressed her in white and gold. Vex will be the first yordle champion to be released since Gnar in 2014. A lot League players will be curious to see exactly what her abilities do and what sadness she can bring to the solo queue.
