Grand Theft Auto is the largest gaming franchise. It may not be the most iconic franchise, but in terms of sales, few things really come close to it. Nowadays, Grand Theft Auto V has sold about 100 million copies, making it the second-best-selling game of all time after Minecraft, which remains largely in front of us at 50 million copies. That said, it's pretty crazy to think we have not received a new one Grand Theft Auto to free this generation at all. Of course, Rockstar Games remastered GTA Vbut it does not really matter. It's crazy, and a drastic difference from the time Rockstar was publishing several GTA games of a generation.
Since 2013, when GTA V Originally released, Rockstar Games has changed the way it develops games. He is now developing fewer games, but the games he develops are more ambitious. This leads to the development of each taking more time than in the past, which partly explains why it did not happen Grand Theft Auto VI this generation. However, according to a new leak, while we will not be GTA VI this generation we will get it very soon.
According to an anonymous European developer, the next installment of the popular series is expected next year, during the holiday season. In addition, the developer claims that Sony is distributing a quantity of money to Take-Two Interactive to guarantee an exclusive period of one month for the PS5, which means that the next Xbox will have the game a month more later. The leak manager also announced that the match would take place in two cities: Miami and New York.
Of course, all of this should be taken with a huge grain of salt. Not only is it an anonymous leak, but the details seem at best dubious. On the one hand, this contradicts a previous rumor that the game is expected to come out around 2022 and unfold in Miami and South America. Second, Rockstar Games just released Red Dead Redemption 2 last October, which means it's extremely unlikely that he could turn around and pull out a new GTA by 2020. Finally, the idea that Take-Two Interactive would be interested in giving Sony and the PS5 a one-month exclusivity seems terribly fictitious. Why should Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive risk Xbox gamblers' backlash for a bit of extra cash? We are talking about Grand Theft Auto, the series that already earns more money than Take-Two does not know what to do.
Alas, like any rumor, it is possible that some or all of this information is correct. If that were the case, it would be the scoop of the century. But there is a better chance that some, if not all, of this information is incorrect or totally false.
Whatever it is, as always, do not hesitate to leave a comment or two letting us know what you think or hit me on Twitter @Tyler_Fischer_ spit on GTA VI.
