19 people were killed in a car explosion in central Cairo

The Egyptian Ministry of Health announced Monday morning that 19 people were killed and 30 wounded in an explosion in front of the National Institute of Oncology of central Cairo.

Khalid Mujahid, spokesman for the ministry on his Facebook page, there are three to four Critical Care Critical cases at the Nbader Institute Hospital. The rest of the injuries ranged from simple fractures to medium injuries, in addition to the incidence of varying degrees of burns and cuts in different parts of the body.

Attorney General Nabil Ahmed Sadiq has ordered the transfer of a team from the South Cairo Prosecutor 's College to the site of the explosion, in front of the region' s Oncology Institute. Al-Qasr Al-Aini, and proceeded to the necessary inspections to determine the reasons.

This comes as the Cairo University president, Mohamed Othman Al-Khasht, declared the state of emergency and called on medical staff to take care of the patients in the hospital. National Institute of Oncology of the University and to keep a close watch on the latest developments.

Al-Khasht ordered the formation of technical committees to inspect the facilities of the Institute and ensure that it was not damaged as a result of the accident.

The Cairo University Information Office said in a statement that the incident had occurred near the administrative building, away from the patients' rooms. (Reuters)
