MANCHESTER, England (Reuters) – Manchester United defender Alexis Sanchez has been injured in the thigh and will undergo additional tests to determine the evolution of his injury and his absence.
The Chilean star will miss Manchester United for nearly a month and will not return to play before the 2019 New Year, the Sun reported.
The absence of Sanchez is a blow to Manchester United, who will play major games in December, including Liverpool and Arsenal in the Premier League, while he was playing a match against Valencia in the Champions League to qualify for the role of the 16.
A Manchester United source has recently denied the player's absence for the Champions League because of a misunderstanding between Sanchez and Jose Mourinho, or for disciplinary reasons, pointing out that Sanchez had recently felt pain, this who pushed his coach to keep him out of the meetings.
"Sanchez had trouble at the Crystal Palace, so he was not there in the Champions League," the source told Sun newspaper.
"What is said about his disagreement with Mourinho is not true and his absence was due to an injury."
Several media reports indicate that the Chilean will leave Manchester United next winter looking for a new challenge after failing at Old Trafford.
