CAIRO (Reuters) – African Football Confederation (CAF) President Ahmed Ahmed announced Friday the withdrawal of the 2019 Nations Africa Cup from Cameroon.
Ahmed explained the delay taken by Cameroon in the completion of the necessary preparations, following the long meeting of the ECU Executive Committee which was held in Accra.
"Today, we have made the decision to withdraw housing Cameroon," he said, adding that the door would be open to countries wishing to organize the tournament scheduled between June and July.
The Union hopes to "identify a new host country for the period up to the end of the year".
