Paris Saint-Germain, champion of France in Ligue 1, was suspended Saturday from the Champions League due to protests in the French capital.
"At the request of the police commission, the League League has decided to defer the match between Paris Saint-Germain and Montpellier during the 17th day of the championship of France, which was to be held Saturday, December 8," according to a statement.
"The Ligue 1 Competitions Committee will determine the date of the match later."
Several French regions, including Paris, have demonstrated in recent weeks under the name of "yellow jackets" to protest against the tax and social policies of President Emmanuel Macaron.

The demonstrations turned into riots in the heart of Paris. The demonstrators called for new demonstrations Saturday in Paris, which would require a mobilization of the police in the capital.
