Study warns against melting glaciers in Greenland

The Greenland ice sheet, which is currently the largest source of new water added to the oceans, is melting at unprecedented levels in the modern era, researchers have discovered.
According to a study published in the journal Nature Wednesday. Scientists from American and Dutch universities said the ice sheet had run out 50% more than in the preindustrial era and 33% higher than the 20th century.
The Greenland Ice Cap is located at locations more than 1.6 km thick and contains enough ice to raise the sea level of the world by seven meters.
"Greenland ice has melted faster in the last few decades than ever before in the last 350 years, and perhaps more than any other in the last 7,000 to 8,000 years," he said. Luke Trussell of the University of Rouen.
"Greenland is more sensitive to climate change today than it was a few decades ago, the intense heat is affecting more than ever."
Another study, published in Nature in June, found that Antarctica has lost about 3 trillion tons of ice since 1992 and that the melting rate has tripled in the last five years.
