The owner of the Beitar Jerusalem club, right-hand Israeli businessman Moshe Hogig, has presented the club membership card to Messi, according to official information published by the club.
Lionel Messi recently appeared in commercials for a famous fragrance company owned by Hogeig, who took advantage of his relationship with the Argentinian star to promote his club.
The club raised great controversy after US President Donald Trump announced the transfer of his country's embbady to occupied Jerusalem in order to temporarily change his name and become the "Beitar Trump Jerusalem" in recognition of the decision of the American president.
It should be noted that "Beitar Jerusalem" belongs to the far right of Israel and its supporters and former Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman.
The team refuses to hire a 48-year-old Arab player and his supporters chant anti-Arab and Palestinian slogans.
