The president of the AFC, Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa, will face a competition to stay with Qatari Saud Al-Mohannadi and Emirati Mohammed Khalfan Al-Rumaithi when holding the elections in April.
AFC announced on Saturday that Sheikh Salman is expected to face competition in elections with al-Mohannadi, vice president of the Continental Union, and Ramithi, a member of the federation's executive committee.
The former president of the Saudi federation, Adel Ezzat, was to run for president of the AFC, but did not run for election. Ezzat said in 2017 that he intended to represent Sheikh Salman in the 2019 elections.
