A spokesman for the South African Football Association confirmed that his country had asked to host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled in Cameroon.

If South Africa were selected, this would be the third time that another country was compensated after the 1996 editions instead of Kenya and 2013 instead of Libya.
The Egyptian Football Federation decided Thursday to present itself at the Africa Cup of Nations, after declaring earlier this month that it had not intended to introduce itself at the tournament.
On 30 November, CAF announced the withdrawal of its organization from Cameroon due to delays in the completion of stadium infrastructure and facilities, as well as the unstable security situation in some parts of the country.
