Rios, who belongs to the second Spanish division, decided to leave his club after facing Cordoba on Saturday, threatened with exclusion.
According to local reports, the club, located about 100 km southwest of Barcelona, has not paid players salaries for three months and has a debt of 5 million euros (5.65 millions of dollars).
"We decided to get our rights (to leave), because we think the situation is already unsustainable," said Rossi's captain, Danny Olmo, in a statement.
Players can leave for other clubs if they are not paid until next Monday.
If Rios, made up of 16 professionals, does not count 12 players in his team, he will be eliminated from the competition.
If this happens, the future rivals will get 3 points and the previous results will not be canceled if they are excluded from the competition.
If the club does not pay the salaries, the players will receive the arrears of the current season via La Liga, following a prior agreement with the players union.
Rios, founded in 1909, occupies 20th place in the league of the 22 teams.
