This comes at a time when FIFA is planning to increase the number of teams in the 2022 World Cup from 32 to 48.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said on Tuesday that the idea of ​​48 teams in the tournament was good and should be implemented, saying that it would not be easy for Qatar to go ahead. host the World Cup alone. The participation will play 28 days instead of 31, the normal time for the World Cup, because the tournament will take place in November and December because of the high temperature in summer, so less than 3 days.

He said that FIFA had spoken to Qatar about the possibility of hosting neighboring countries for the tournament and that she was still studying the issue.

Undersecretary General of the Supreme Committee for Projects and Heritage Organization of the 2022 World Cup, Nbader Al-Khater, pointed out that Qatar had held no discussion with any other country to participate in the organization of the final, explaining that it was a "feasibility study and then a consultation process". "Based on the discussions, it will be agreed."

The possibility of matches in other countries in the region is unlikely, especially in the light of the Gulf crisis since Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Manama and Cairo broke off ties with Doha in June 2017.

Qatar will host the 2022 World Cup between November 21st and December 18th, outside of the summer, to avoid the impact of heat in Qatar during this season.
