Lucille's design is inspired by the interplay of light and shadow that characterizes the traditional Arabic lantern, as well as delicate inscriptions on bowls and other utensils found in the Arab world.
"The Lusail stadium is one of the most important stadiums to be built to host the world at the 2022 World Cup, which Qatar has the honor of organizing for the first time in the Middle East and the Arab world, "said Hbadan Al-Thawadi, secretary general of the High Committee for Projects and Heritage.
"The tournament will take place four years after the Qatar National Day on December 18," he said. "What sets Qatar 2022 apart is the distance that allows fans to watch more than one match in a day."
The Higher Committee for Projects and Legacy is the Qatari institution responsible for implementing infrastructure projects to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
In order to pave the way for the construction of these new facilities benefiting the community around the stadium, some of its 80,000 seats will be dismantled and donated to sports projects.
