A diet rich in fruits and vegetables should be followed
LONDON (Reuters) – The refusal to eat salt protects against headaches, according to a study by researchers at Johns Hopkins University in the United States. People who have reduced the amount of salt to three grams a day have reduced their headache rate (equivalent to three grams of salt half a tablespoon). The authors explain that the reason for the absence of headaches when they refrain from consuming salt is due to lower blood pressure. But even people who do not have stress problems have less headache.
The study was conducted on 400 participants. Some of them were asked to follow a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, while others had a diet rich in dairy products and low-fat cheese. The participants ate the food with nine grams of salt a day, then reduced the amount to six grams before becoming three grams a day. They were asked to rate the side effects: headache, bloating, dry mouth, thirst, fatigue, lack of energy, nausea and change of taste. The researchers found that a decrease in salt intake of nine grams per day at three, reduced head pain by 31%. The researchers think the reason is low blood pressure.
