The sixth edition of the Qatar International Weightlifting and Qualifying Tournament will begin Thursday at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, hosted by the Qatar Weightlifting Federation (QFW) for three days.
The tournament, which will be held at the InterContinental Hotel Doha, will be 140 square meters in size and is one of the world leaders in the field of lifting sports representing 35 countries.
Representatives from the International Federation, continental, Asian and Arab federations, as well as Mr. Mohammed Yousef Al Mana, President of the Qatar Federation and President of the Asian and Arab Weight Lifting Federation, are expected to attend this event.
The Qatari team competes in a quarter: the promising champion, Fares Ibrahim, weighs 96 kg and has won several international and continental medals, including three gold medals at the Asian Championships for Youth and Weightlifting. As well as three silver medals (gold and silver) at the World Weightlifting Championships For under-20s, he also won a silver medal at the 18th Asian Games.
The competitions will be held under three male weights: 77, 85 and over 94 kg, while the women will compete in two scales: 63 and over 75 kg.
The technical meeting of the championship took place tonight to approve the eligibility of the participating chefs, the colors of the shirts they will wear, as well as a special meeting of the referees and the rest of the technical committees.
The Qatar Weightlifting Federation, chaired by Mr. Mohammed Yousef Al Mana, President of the Federation of Arab and Asian Federations, invited all continental federations to participate in the sixth edition of the Qatar International Cup, which is has become one of the main competitions organized every year on the agenda of the Federation.
The organizing committee of the championship has finished all the preparations for the competitions which will begin tomorrow morning, two o'clock in the morning.
