The governing body of Greek football on Wednesday announced an indefinite strike to protest a "cowardly attack" in front of his home in Larissa.
"As a sign of solidarity with our colleague, we will refrain from dealing with our affairs until further notice," the referees of the League of First Division announced in a statement.
The international government, Thanasis Tzilos, was badaulted by four people as he was leaving his home in Larissa, in the center of the country, Sunday night.
The referee was admitted to the hospital and Tzilos led his last match on Dec. 9, ending in a 1-1 draw against Xanthi and Olympiakos.
According to the "Sport 24" website, Greece has recorded 33 attacks or threats against league leaders since 2009.
