A team of researchers in France has discovered the properties of immune cells, which are targeted by HIV / AIDS in the human body, paving the way for a medical advance leading to the treatment of the disease.

The researchers belong to the Institut Pasteur de France, according to the journal "Medical Metabolism", reported in a report Friday, December 20, and called immune "CD-4" cells.

These cells are the main target of the HIV virus, which is a reservoir of the virus, which means that these cells can be used as a center for attacking and eliminating the virus in an innovative way.

The new treatment differs from currently used drugs, it completely eliminates the virus, while the methods used in the treatment of drugs try to reduce the impact of the virus, but do not eliminate the infected cells.

AIDS AND CANCER

HIV is known to infect various cellular targets, the main one being the CD4 (T4) inducing helper lymphocyte subset.

The AIDS virus targets lymphocytes, responsible for immunity in the human body, making it vulnerable to death by any other less dangerous virus involving individuals.

"Antiretrovirals, which are currently used to stop viruses and act against them to reduce their spread," said Asir Sayes Sirion, director of research. "Through research, we have identified infected cells to target them and rid the infected body of HIV."

The current method of using "inverted viruses", which can reduce the spread of HIV in infected cells, particularly lymphocytes, noting that this method requires the patient to use these treatments for life.

"Scientists may be making a big medical advance in the eradication of AIDS by destroying infected cells, which are a stockpile of the virus, that current drugs can not eradicate."
