Liverpool celebrates summit with goals of Salah and Dick

LONDON (Reuters) – Liverpool will celebrate Christmas at the top of the English Premier League after Mohammed Salah and Farjil van Dyk won 2-0 at home against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday to extend their lead over Manchester City, second.

In the pouring rain, Wolverhampton started the match in a promising way to prove to the newly promoted team why he was in seventh place and force Liverpool midfielder Roman Sais, Alison Baker, to try the first goal.

But Liverpool managed in the 18th minute with a goal of superb cooperation. After a clever exchange of the ball with Sadio Mani, the Brazilian Fabiniu made a deep pbad that was beautifully received by Salah. Wolverhampton goalkeeper Alison scored two goals before the break, but the visitors doubled the score in the 68th minute. Rui Patricio is at hand.

Wolverhampton's hopes were sparked despite substitute Morgan Gibbs-White coming close to the end after a foul by Liverpool defender Andy Robertson.

This is the most pressing period in the league, with teams playing four games between the end of this week and the middle of the first week of January. Liverpool will have two important games in the coming days, the first against Arsenal at the 20th stage on Dec. 26, followed by the summit against Manchester City on the third of next month.
