The coach of Newcastle United, Rafael Benitez, has launched a fierce attack on his compatriot Pep Guardiola, the current director of Manchester City, stressing that social media platforms are the reason why the "philosopher "was polite.
"Guardiola has not revolutionized football," Benitez said in a statement from Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo. "He has faced some very aggressive clubs over the course of his career," he said. "He said.
"It's important that you get the best players, and sometimes the style is not necessary," he said.
"Guardiola has very good players and he continues to win, people will continue to talk about it, but other clubs appear differently and win."
He stressed that the Web and social networking sites are one of the main reasons to polish the image of Guardiola, who has produced a series of local, continental and international titles and tournaments with Barcelona from 2008 to 2012.
He also dominated the long-term German championships when he took charge of Bayern Munich between 2013 and 2016, before taking over Manchester City, which he had led last season to win the Premier League English and League Cup.
Manchester City is in the Premier League with 44 points, four points behind leaders Liverpool.
