NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – Regular physical activity reduces the risk of death by 30% and protects the risk of serious chronic diseases such as heart disease by 35%, according to a recent Australian study.

The more people understand the benefits of exercise, the more physically active they are.

Researchers at the University of Central Queensland surveyed 615 people about how well they knew about the benefits of physical activity and laziness.

The survey included questions that measured time spent walking or doing light activity, such as swimming, or a larger activity such as cycling.
