According to a new study, skipping breakfast increases the risk of diabetes by about a third, according to the website "Russia Today".

People who did not eat their morning meal were 33% more likely to develop type 2 diabetes, according to an badysis of about 100,000 people.

The risk is increased by 55% for those who avoid breakfast at least four times a week, compared to those who eat breakfast in the morning.

Researchers think the reason is the tendency to have snacks later in the day, apart from breakfast.

The researchers collected the results of six previous studies on the effect of diet on diabetes in 96,000 participants.

"It is estimated that 30% of the world's population does not eat breakfast," said Dr. Sabrina Schlesinger of the German Diabetes Center in Düsseldorf.

Overweight people are more likely to miss breakfast because they mistakenly believe that it reduces the total number of calories consumed.

The team found that people who skipped breakfast were 22% more likely to have diabetes, regardless of weight. They can also take a large meal, which results in a significant increase in glucose and insulin, which is not good for metabolism, and increases the risk of type 2 diabetes.

The study found that breakfast with high proportions of whole grains, with low levels of red meat and sugar, is the best in general.
