According to the Spanish press, the Argentine international Lionel Messi, the star of Barcelona, told the club management that he wanted to stay Ernesto Valverde.
The Valverde contract with Barcelona ends at the end of the season, having joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2017, replacing Luis Enrique.
"Lionel Messi is happy to work with Ernesto Valverde and believes that he has brought peace among the players in the locker room and that he is the best coach of his potential," reported the AS newspaper.
Messi thinks that Valverde knows what the Argentinian wants, always gives him freedom on the ground and that the relationship between them is greater than the one shown on the screens.
The paper pointed out that Lionel had told Barcelona management that he wanted to stay at Ernsto, the team's technical director, and renew his contract without allowing him to leave, so that Barcelona would continue to progress.
