A small probe has begun to explore the hidden face of the moon, the Chinese Space Agency said Friday after the lunar spacecraft's historic landing at Chang-e-4, hailing what it described as "a major move for the Chinese people ".
The probe, known as Yoto II, began moving to the moon at 22:22 (1422 GMT), 12 hours after China's successful launch of its first launch of a spacecraft on the hidden side of the moon. .
The agency released a photo taken by the "Chang A 4" probe showing traces of the small probe that was walking as it was leaving the spacecraft. The agency did not specify until where the robot had pbaded.
"Even though it's only a small step for the probe, I think it's a big step for the Chinese people," said Wu Weirn, chief engineer of the moon exploration program in China, in an interview on state television.
This is the second time China sends a vehicle to explore the moon after the "Yoto" probe in 2013, which has continued to run for 31 months on the apparent side of the moon.
The new probe will conduct studies on low waves, mineral resources, and the potential for growing tomatoes and other plant species.
