Police have suspended searching for a plane carrying Argentine footballer Emiliano Sala, who recently rejoined the city of Cardiff after disappearing over the English Channel as they headed for the capital.

"Search and rescue operations have been suspended after sunset," Guernsey police said late Tuesday.

"The current plan is that they resume their searches with the sunrise tomorrow."

The Argentinian player Emiliano Sala, who plays for the city of Cardiff, went missing while he was flying a training plane over Britain after leaving Nantes in the west of the France to go to Cardiff, Wales, announced the Mirror.

According to the newspaper, the plane would have disappeared from the radar screens flying over a British zone on Monday night.

British and French authorities are exploring the waters in front of the Guernsey Island in search of a single engine.

"For the moment, no trace of the missing plane has been found," said the police. The officials in Nantes and Cardiff have not commented.
