PARIS – The champion Paris Saint-Germain will pay a fine of 100,000 euros after the scouts have committed irregularities in the ranking of minor players on the basis of their ethnic origin, announced Tuesday the league.

The discipline committee of the badociation made its decision after listening to the statements of former club officials between 2013 and 2018 and the club's general manager, Jean-Claude Blanc, said the statement.

The club had previously denied having knowledge of a race-based registration system for players.

Mediapart, basing itself on allegations contained in documents called "football leaking", stated that, until the spring of 2018, Saint Germain had asked talent scouts to record the ethnic origins of players in four categories: France, North Africa, West India and Black Africa.

This is in violation of French law, which prohibits the collection of personal information revealing the race or ethnicity of individuals.
