China reports 2,804 deaths from infectious diseases in December
BEIJING, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) – China reported 2,804 deaths from infectious diseases in December 2018, according to the National Health Commission.
In total, 712,581 cases of communicable diseases were recorded last month.
The Committee stated that no case of infectious disease (A) had been reported in December. Category A infectious diseases, including cholera and plague, constitute the most dangerous clbadification under Chinese law for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases.
A total of 289,613 cases of infectious disease (B) were diagnosed, resulting in 2,788 deaths in December. Viral hepatitis, tuberculosis, syphilis, scarlet fever and gonorrhea accounted for 93% of these cases.
Infectious diseases (C) caused 16 deaths. Foot-and-mouth disease, influenza and infectious diarrhea were the most common in this category with 93% of cases.
