An American study showed that women who ate fried chicken daily had a 13% higher risk of premature death than those who avoided such foods. The study concluded that fried fish is not much better for health because the chances are increased if it is consumed daily.
"Eating fried foods increases the total number of calories, which increases the risk of death," said Wei Bao, principal investigator at the University of Iowa.
For this study, researchers examined food-related data from approximately 107,000 women aged 50 to 79 who participated in the Women's Health Initiative between 1993 and 2017. During the follow-up period, 31,885 women died, including 9,320 with heart problems and 8,358 who died of cancer.
To evaluate the consumption of fried foods, the researchers examined what participants said about the consumption of certain foods early in their studies, including fried chicken, fried fish, French fries and other foods cooked the same way.
