Masrawy-
As part of a medical project to treat type 1 diabetes, researchers at the University of California in San Francisco, USA, transformed stem cells into insulin-producing cells.
Researchers have been trying for years to find a way to make this change in the hope of helping millions of people cope with the disease. They eventually managed to create healthy beta cells able to secrete insulin into the bodies of diabetics, which had been destroyed before, citing the Al Bayan newspaper website in the United Arab Emirates.
After transplanting into mice, these cells started to produce insulin and treat sugar in the blood in a few days.
