A man carrying a knife tried to steal Ozil's car and was confronted with Kolasinak before another person was wearing a helmet to try to attack the German star.
A spokesman for the English club confirmed that the management had contacted the players and confirmed their safety.
Police issued a statement that "two men on a motorcycle tried to steal someone". The player and his colleague managed to get out safely and went to the restaurant to report the incident.
