Discover a huge reserve on the moon
Researchers at the University of California found evidence that there was a huge supply of water on the moon in the ice, larger than expected.
According to the scientists, the results of previous studies, which included the badysis of data from the "Arecibo" observatory and the MESSENGER probe, showed that the poles of the planet Mercury still had deep holes in their shadows. According to the lunar reconnaissance orbiter (LRO), which collided with the planet in the area of the pits, the thickness of the ice cover is a few meters. This ice has never been exposed to the sun.
The experts point out that the thermal conditions on the surface of Mercury and the Moon are similar and that they must always dig in the shade, some with ice. In order to prove their point of view, the scientists studied 2,000 holes of the planet Mercury and 12,000 similar holes on the Moon, and compared these holes in terms of diameter and depth. It turns out that the "shallow" drilling on Mercury because of the ice reminds us of what happens when drilling on the Moon. According to astronomers, this proves that the material accumulated in the small holes of the moon contains millions of tons of ice.
