According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 1,000 people have been killed and more than 5,000 injured since the beginning of the offensive launched by retired General Khalifa Hafater in the capital Tripoli .
The organization said Tuesday in a statement that 1,048 people had been killed in Libya since April, including 106 civilians. She also explained that Hafar's attempt to take control of the Libyan capital had resulted in 5,558 people, including 289 civilians.
The organization also announced the high number of victims of the bombing of Haftar forces by military planes and targeted a reception center for illegal immigrants in the Tajoura region, east of Tripoli, causing 53 deaths and 130 wounded.
On April 4, Hafar's forces began a military operation to seize control of Tripoli, in a context of widespread international condemnation and fears that any hope of a political solution to the crisis will be lost.
